This is the latest addition to my art collection. It is by the lawyer turned artist, Simon Fieldhouse. It captures the lower facade of 185 Elizabeth St, Sydney directly in front of Bambini Trust Restaurant’s Wine Room. Various members of Denman Chambers who regularly enjoy the Wine Room together with a magpie and a Cardigan Corgi called “Lily”.
Simon Fieldhouse was born 25 March 1956 and is an artist based in Sydney, Australia. He was educated at the University of Sydney where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts specializing in English literature and European history. He then studied law and practiced briefly as a Solicitor ceasing in 1988.
He was co-author of “Portraits on Yellow Paper” with former Supreme Court of New South Wales judge Roderick Meagher. His works have been exhibited widely and his paintings illustrated the National Trust publications “Historic Architecture of Australia” in 2002 and “Historic Architecture of Australia II” in 2004.
He has produced many paintings depicting Historic Australian Architecture with whimsical characters.
In 2006 he was commissioned by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney to produce 35 portraits of Professors of Medicine. This series follows in the footsteps of Sir Lionel Lindsay, who produced a similar series in 1916.
